Twitter

I have mixed feelings about Twitter. My husband has signed up to follow a number of politician type Tweeters and it is so irritating for his cell phone to "ting" when we're out to eat or simply talking at home and he stops to check the latest Tweet. He admits he doesn't care about 99% of the tweets he gets. He's agreed to stop following some of the Tweeters before I divorce him! Courtesy and manners don't seem to apply in the texting and Tweeting worlds...as in, pay attention to the person you are with, not the person on the cell phone/pda/blackberry/iphone or whatever. Rant. Sorry.

I can see the usefulness of Twitter in some situations. Keeping in touch while traveling, passing along urgent information, etc. I prefer contact in person, by phone, and by email, so if I Tweet, it will be very selective. My cell phone doesn't have a separate keyboard, so I don't text much either.

The CHPL lesson on Twitter has been an excellent way to learn about it, and I continue to appreciate the work that Deborah and the Web2.0 committee have done.
